  21. This archive was created from a monthly code disk containing the
  22. complete listings of an issue of The C Users Journal magazine. The
  23. file FILENAME.TXT contains an explanation of the naming convention
  24. used to identify the listings taken from physical pages in the 
  25. magazine, and UPDATE.DOC describes any additional files that
  26. may be supplied in the archive.

  37. Users' Group.  If you are interested in subscribing, submitting
  38. proposals or articles for publication in CUJ, or contributing your
  39. Public Domain software to the C Users' Group library, please read on.

  45. The C Users Journal is written by sophisticated programmers for
  46. sophisticated programmers.  We insist on practical treatments of real
  47. programming problems, or on tutorials that make theory or complex issues
  48. more accessible to practicing programmers.  In place of product reviews,
  49. we publish user reports that show -- with insight backed by experience
  50. -- how to use commercial products that aid the program developer.  Our
  51. emphasis is on C and C++, or on tools used in conjunction with these
  52. languages.

  66. If you have an idea for an article and experience that would qualify you
  67. to write for other programmers, please request authors's guidelines from

  70. We pay at rates that are competitive with other national technical
  71. journals.  We believe that our editorial assistance is better than most. 
  72. You don't have to be a professional writer to meet our acceptance
  73. criteria, but you must have something to say.

  75. A proposal consists of a brief abstract and outline, proferably totaling
  76. no more than one page, and a brief resume of your qualifications.  When
  77. mailing the proposal, please include a hard copy and an ASCII text file
  78. on an MS-DOS formatted disk. 
  79.  
  80. You MUST submit your manuscript on an MS-DOS disk.  Files must be in raw
  81. ASCII format, flush left, with one empty line between paragraphs.  Code
  82. should be no wider than 55 columns.  Keep any code as brief as possible
  83. and to the point.  If you ignore any of these requirements you increase
  84. the probability that an otherwise acceptable article will be rejected.

  86. All topics pertinent to advanced programming issues in C and C++ are
  87. appropriate for proposals.  Please see the file CALL.DOC on this disk
